Maja is a Danish artist currently residing in Oslo, after recently living in Tokyo. Her artwork, which intertwines elements of both Danish and Japanese cultures, results in a captivating fusion of styles. Maja's paintings, which primarily focus on abstract compositions, possess a unique quality that sets them apart. In her recent work, 3D structures made from recycled paper are incorporated—the paper originally used to wrap her family’s belongings during their move from Copenhagen to Tokyo a little more than 20 months ago.

This approach adds depth and texture to her art, creating an engaging visual experience for viewers, but also brings the history from the paper's past into the paintings as an untamed story that wishes to be told.
The technique that Maja uses holds several references to the technique of Kintsugi. However, Maja uses cardboard and recycled paper to apply the paint to the canvas.

With a portfolio of exhibitions in both Denmark and Japan, including the vibrant city of Tokyo, Maja has demonstrated her ability to captivate audiences across cultures and geographical boundaries. Her works have not only resonated with art enthusiasts but have also found homes in collections across four continents. This accomplishment highlights the universal appeal and marketability of Maja's creations.

Maja have held two of her Danish exhibitions while being on maternity leave.

Until recently, Maja has
been represented by a Danish gallery, but since she moved to Tokyo, she has wished to explore on
her own where and how she can develop further.
